I went to the local used gear store to try out a Dillion 56 goldtop with 2 P-90's. I had high hopes to find that diamond in the rough.

Twas not to be - the tuners were downright terrible and the nut was coming off. Overall condition was not bad, but it wouldn't stay in tune and really just sounded bad.

Disappointed, I do a lap around the store looking for something else Les Paul'ish. Low and behold I see this sweet guitar - looks kinda old, but in excellent condition..don't recognize the brand: Electra. I was like "yea, I bet that's a good guitar NOT!". But since I had already played the Dillion I decided it couldn't hurt to take it down and get a look.

Bolt on neck, overall beautiful guitar with a nice finish and condition in general. Decided to try it out.

You know that feeling when you play something new and it just feels right, sounds right...it talks to you. That's what this guitar did. It played so well, so smooth. Some scratch in the pots, but I guess that's par for the course.

Bottom line - I had to have it. And buy it I did. Here she is - not sure of the model or year, but it's a player for sure. $300 - a bit high I think but it was just so right, I didn't even think about it. :dance

Guess I won't be needing that Agile now :)

Sweet! Is that an older, honest to Gawd lawsuit Japanese Paul type guitar? Why yes, I think it is!

Love the quirky vibe with the headstock, clear pickguard, and funky bridge pickup.

Congrats!

PS: Still get the Agile. :)

Dude!
for the record, I'm a Washburn nut. The best Washburn electrics, aside from custom shop builds of the last ten years, which put Gibson Fender and PRS to shame, are Matsumoku built Japanese guitars from the early 80's. They are highly sought after, and dude, I believe you landed one yourself. Very cool

Nice find!

I found some Electra forums so I'm going to try to find out more about it. The model number is not shown on the tag on the back, just the serial no. I love it though - plays really good and sounds good too.

So I finally got on the Electra forums and got some info - this guitar appears to be a 76/77 2245 Sunburst Super Rock. How about that?? Freakin' cool right?

I love the thing but it does have some issues with the volume pots. The volume will drop out at time when adjusting them. Think they just need sprayed out? I have some contact cleaner.

She's sweet man! I always say, a trip to the guitar store is best when you bring something unexpected home!

Wow congrats on the score! Love the look of it too.

Regarding the pots, contact cleaner will help, but given the age, I'd plan on replacing them anyway. Should be a FAR easier job to do so than on a strat thanks to the lovely rear control plate. I'd keep the old ones in a bag somewhere just in case you want to sell it as a collectible at some point though.
