Hey all, just found the forum today and thought I'd say hello.

I'm a thirty-something who has a story you are probably all very familiar with - I started fiddling with guitars as a teen and never 'really' learned how to play properly. Anyway I took some lessons and am getting better at it. Been in and out of a few local, all-original bands, just doing this for the fun of it.

Gear-wise I am primarily a Fender type of guy although I recently picked up a neck-thru Agile LP that is pretty sweet. My primary weapon is a 2009 American Deluxe HSS Strat - really digging this guitar. Also have another strat (MIM 50's Classic Players reissue) and a tele (Lonestar relic) as well as some others.

For amps I mainly play through an Ampeg Reverberocket, a Marshall Vintage Modern (50-watt), or a silverface Twin Reverb. I have plenty of amps, but none of those special, super-mojo jobbies (except maybe one, but it's a long story). I guess you could say I am true believer in tube amps and haven't really been able to get along with any SS amp I've ever tried.

For effects - well - that's my weakness. I build my own and lately I build a lot. I'm probably well over 75 builds this year and still rolling. Mostly various fuzzes and overdrives as that's my primary interest (I'm not a big 'modulation' guy), but I'll build whatever is buildable before I'm through - it's a ton of fun and I recommend that everyone have a go at it! I do sell pedals as well, but I'm not here to do that so I won't mention it from here on.

I guess that's about it. What do I mean "about it?" i just wrote a novel . . . lame. But it's a slow day at work and snowing outside so this is what you get!

Hi Robert, from another Robert!

Wrote a novel! Wow, that's hardly lame... that takes some commitment for sure.

Welcome to the Fret! I don't build pedals but I do love using them. :)

Hi Robert! I love pedals too, but am not inclined to build my own. We do have some resident pedal builders here as well. Welcome to the party!

Welcome, Robert! Besides the ubiquitous Fender owners, you'll also find some of us Agile owners here as well. You have a very nice gear collection!

Welcome to The Fret, pedalbuilder. There's several DIY'ers here (Duvoodooman in particular). I built just a few pedals from BYOC, and I love 'em.

I know there are several of us who walked a similar path of guitar learning as you, and came back later in life and are now learning it right.

Be sure to post your gear photos since we can't get enough guitar porn!

Yeah - I saw DVM here. If you ever hang around the BYOC forum, I'm 'rnagoda' over there.

Terrible. The powerblock is terrible . . . that cab is fantastic. Playing through a powerblock is a sure path to giving up on guitar playing - totally uninspiring, dull sound. I've used it with a Boss GT-8 using the "43-cable method" and that helps, but it's still not very good.

Welcome, there are lots of Roberts here!

That Wall O' Sound is bosstastic. I didn't know Ampeg made a Reverberocket head.

Oh yeah, and it's a great unit too. Highly recommended and can be found for cheap every once in a while (I think I picked mine up for $250 or so, best $250 I can imagine spending on guitar equipment). Great reverb (of course) and awesome clean tone. The 'lead' channel is okay - it's better than most Fender lead channels anyhow, but I never use it, I play it clean and use pedals for dirt - fantastic.
