I've got to check this out. The more I learn about Django the more I think that he was one of the most important people pick up the instrument. He was as influencial as Hendrix, when I look at all the people who were influenced by his playing. Not bad for a guy that only had two fingers to use for fretting with his left hand.

Nice! Django is my all-time favorite guitarist. Such a shame that he's only known to a small minority of people. Whenever you see those "greatest guitarists" lists, you always see all rock guitarists. You never see jazz, flamenco, or classical guitarists that would blow those guys away. Not that I don't love listening to guys like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jimmy Page, but gutarists like Django, Paco De Lucia, and Andres Segovia are far better.

In fact, check out the guitarists that have followed in his footsteps like Stochelo Rosenberg, Bireli Lagrene, Jimmy Rosenberg, and Angelo Debarre, to name a few.

Here is a video of Stochelo Rosenberg playing Django's solo note for note on his song "Minor Swing".

Check out the run at 1:38 and then think about the fact that Django was playing that using only two fingers! Amazing to say the least!
