View Full Version : Fundraising for forum upgrade!

Okay guys, here's the deal. The time has come for a forum upgrade. The new version of Vbulletin does a lot more than our version does - a mobile version being one of them. There are also features such as
Photo Albums
Calendar
Events Management
Blog
Article-based Publishing
In other words - a more up to date, and modern system.
We need about $300 to do this.
I have just found out that we have an anonymous member who has promised to match any donation from another member - one dollar for every dollar donated, up to a max of $100. So if we have someone here who wants to chip in a good chunk of mooolah, our anonymous donor will match it! How about that!
I am willing to set a side a day of upgrading and tweaking the new forum, when the time comes, probably early January.
But first, we need the funding. We have $35 so far, from 2 members in December. Want to help this cause? There is a button at the top left - you can't miss it.

A much smaller version of the donation drive ydpri.com does every year might bring in plenty: A raffle!
All it takes is a sponsor or two to kick in a product or something like a $100 gift certificate, create a deadline, then a random drawing.

Just $10 from 10 people equates to $200 in total revenue. Surely some folks can do $10 to see their favorite forum upgraded.

I just donated as well. Being a very new member I must admit I visit this forum a few times a day and have not only learned a lot, I've found new music to enjoy and realize that there are lots of people in guitar land just like me.
Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks everyone. :thumbsup I have a feeling that we're getting closer to the goal.
Remember: every donation is matched by an anonymous donor. So when you give - you give twice as much.

The big problem here is going to be converting U.S. dollars (aka "Real Money") into Canadian money (aka beaver pelts). Unfortunately, Google was unable to give me an up-to-date dollar-to-pelt conversion.

:rollover The Rev is in form!
Maybe we should bring in some experts... I think they can convert US dollars to beers, eh.

Where have you been, Rev? We haven't accepted beaver pelts up here in the Great White North since our National Igloo got electricity -- in 2008! :-)

We have enough funds for the upgrade. I'm leaving for NAMM tomorrow so the upgrade will not happen this week. I will need to plan it out as well, and give you guys a chance to preview something. Give me a few weeks okay?
