Hello all,

I just read most of a book called The Soul of Tone: Celebrating 60 Years of Fender Amps (Book & CD) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0634056131?ie=UTF8&tag=retrohound-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0634056131) by Tom Wheeler. It's got two CDs with sound samples of many of Fender's amps, so this is a great intro to those of us trying to get familiar with some of the basic differences in sound. One CD is vintage amps, the other is modern, including reissues. It's a huge book too. Lots of great photos and info.

Anyone else read it?

Fixed your link, which had a bunch of extraneous HTML code in it.

Looks interesting--I may have to spring for that one!

more interested in getting a good Fender than reading about them although truck loads of others could work too.

Thanks DVM, I didn't think it looked right.

And Player, I'm a librarian by trade, so I tend to read about anything I'm remotely interested in. :-) But the CDs were what I liked. More consistent comparisons than YouTube vids.
