Hi all,

I ordered a short-scale bass for my wife the other day. We'd like to get it painted a very specific color (Sublime Green Pearl).

I can disassemble (and reassemble) the guitar. How can I find someone local to repaint the body? Should I just call around to local auto-body shops? Do they do little jobs like this?

What instructions should I give them?

Will a re-paint cover all the bridge and strap knob holes?

Should I buy and supply the paint? How much paint should I buy?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I would try and find someone who specializes in painting guitars. Wood is not a medium that many auto body guys know about anymore. It also depends on what paint you want to use. Some no longer work with lacquer. I know that the luthier that I use has a person who does only guitars and can spray any paint your would want.

Check with your local music shoppes. They may know someone. Or if you are willing to give it a go yourself, check out the Reranch forums (http://www.reranch.com/reranch/).
