I'm finding I'm not playing my 74 Strat much at all and it may be that I've tired of the sound (even with my Vox ToneLab) and am thinking of replacing the pickups.
Has anyone put CS 54's in their Strat or could you recommend and moderately hot pickup?
I know there was a place to hear the CD 54, 69 and Fat 50 but I get dead links. I really don't want to spend any money at all but the Strat is not useful sitting in the case getting old.

I have CS 54's in my SX Strat. They are nice vintage pickups.

You should also have a look at Porter Pickups - http://www.porterpickups.com/singlecoils.htm

Very nice as well. I have a set of 50's and I will do a video demo of these soon(ish).

Hi Robert, did you ever put up a video demo of the Porter pups? I can't find it and am just now getting around to trying to make a decision for my strat.......stock or boutique?????? I'd like to do something soon.
I'm still not sure what I want and that's my fault. I'm looking for not as much highs and twang as the stock pickups with a bit more crunch but still keeping the strat sound. One thing I've noticed on the originals I have is that this guitar is about 30% lower in volume than my PRS and Hagstrom.
I'm likely to change the pots as since they are original. Not sure what I might need there and will likely let the local, small guitar shop pro do these for me.
I'm open to suggestions and sorry for bringing up a long dead thread.
