MXR Smart Gate

thinking about buying one of these, my rig is pretty noisy at high gain settings. Anybody have any advice or experiance with this or other gates?

I have one, but I'm still up in the air with it. Seems to suck some of the sweet juice, out of my tone. I really don't use ot.
