Good golly, those are nice photos - and what a nice guitar! It must be heaven to play it!?

Hey, why don't you post an introduction in the Fret Player's section and tell us more about yourself!

Bass2Guitar,

That's a fine looking guitar. Is that a D45? It looks like one with all the abalone inlay, etc.

I have a J40M Martin that I've owned since the late 80's. It a very rich and loud sounding guitar. It's great for recording. I've always thought that Martin's had a very warm sound as compared to Taylors which are more bright sounding. I have a Taylor too and I love it for certain things. But I still love the Martin.

Send us some clips of your new axe. It would be great to hear how it sounds.

OOH AHH! I love a naked guitar with all those curves. She sure would be nice to hold and run your fingers over. This one has a nice bronze body, long neck and a perfectly shape bottom. Looks like all the parts are in the right place too. Nice catch!

Yeah, that seriously looks like a D45. A friend of mine has one of those, except his is about 40 years older than the one in the pictures. They are a beautiful guitar.

Thanks guys, I'll post an intro to myself so you can gleam a bit more, but to answer some here..

Yes, it's a D45 (but more correctly D45V). The V is for "Vintage" which means it has the Pre-War bracing, with the forward shifted and scalloped bracing. The standard D-45 (except those made before 1944) has no scalloped bracing.

There are other nuances on the V, but that's it for the most part.

As for recordings, sorry to say.. I'm a total guitar newbie, and don't really want to embarrass myself. Moreover, I'm a bit of a newbie to today's recording tech and hardly can post pics, much less audio. I'm going to make that a item to get down however some day.

My main instrument however is the bass, and I've been playing that for some 25 years. More in my other thread for intro's..
