hey guys, i got some money in my pocket, but im only willing to spend for only 250. i have a good ear for guitars and mostly trust the brands but ive been a little open minded and thought i would take the no-mans-land challange and buy a acoustic for better or bust. ive desided either this guitar ive came across on just really a second ago the Silver Creek T-170 Acoustic Guitar http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Silver-Creek-T170-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=512728 for 250 (for 700 for orginal i thought to good to be true) i thought this must be a pro guitar but from youtube covers im not so sure or all bad recordings haha. or the Takamine G440C http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Takamine-G440C-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=516422 ive heard good things about this guitar and i love the color and ive heard the youtube demos and i love the sound. (but for 400 orginal ((probley less than that)) i dont know if this is either a amatur guitar or beginer) so what do you guys think. the silver creek or the takamine.

By all accounts (I've never seen or played one) Silver Creeks are great bang for your buck but often need a bit of work to come right. Replacing the saddle and nut with bone is the favourite first step. Some need a bit of fret work. See http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/index.php for lots of useful info.

Go with the SC for traditional sounds or the Tak' for a more modern vibe. I'd advise trying before you buy with all acoustic guitars. Sample variation can be huge. I've bought two "cheap" acoustics in the last year and they've both been killer value but the next one in the shop could have been very different.

I'm not familiar with Silver Creek. But I am quite a bit with Takamine; I've even dinked around on that model at my local Tak dealer and I'd recommend the Tak. Unless you don't want the cutaway body, and prefer the Silver Creek dread. You may want to decide first what body type suits you.

I have the Silver Creek D-170 and love it! A super, super value. In fact, I plan on getting either the
D-160 or the T-160. If you look at the tail end of the video below you get a pretty good look at my D-170. :thumbsup
