I was watching some late night/early morning tv the other night, and I saw a commercial with Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters shooting a music video advertisement...apparently they're working on a new album that will be coming out soon??

This got me pretty excited...then I went to sleep. But anyways, does anyone know of this new album I speak of?

I've heard spring 2011 a few times but their web site says you can text to get a 'taste' of their new single.
I can't wait!

Dave Grohl has a huge amount of material to choose from since he is constantly writing new songs. I remember back when In Your Honor was released, he said that between the time the album was cut and the time it was released, he wrote and layed down demo's for 2 albums worth of music!

While the Foo Fighters can produce some great pop music, I hope they emphasize the harder edged stuff that makes them unique on this next album.

I got some really weird posts from peter.jhony too...seems someone purged them outta here already. Good riddance.

But onto the subject. I heard they're doing the album with Butch Vig so I'm definitely expecting something good!

Really looking forward to some new material. I've read some Grohl comments in recent articles eluding to the fact that this record will be much louder and more aggressive. The track, "FFL" comes to mind here.

I am a huge Butch Vig fan too, so I have high expecations for the Spring release.

Listen to a very short teaser song excerpt here (http://tease.foofighters.com/#).

Reports are it will be a harder sounding album than before. :dude

I read some articles with Grohl in them as well. One that I just recently read was a rolling stones magazine article. Apparently the bassist from Nirvana (his name slipped my mind) is recording on this newest Foo Fighters album as well. Grohl said that they are going for harder material, and in a sense they are putting some closure on what Nirvana had accomplished and how it ended with Kurt Cobains death. It was a good, short read. Definitely looking forward to this upcoming album!

April 16th. All covers. (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/foo_fighters_to_release_covers_album.html) Usually, that would be a bad idea, but the Foos have performed some great sounding versions of past songs, so we'll see.

01. Band On The Run (Paul McCartney & Wings)
02. I Feel Free (Cream)
03. Life of Illusion (Joe Walsh)
04. Young Man Blues (Mose Allison)
05. Bad Reputation (Thin Lizzy)
06. Darling Nikki (Prince)
07. Down In The Park (Gary Numan)
08. Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty)
09. Danny Says (Ramones)
10. Have A Cigar (Pink Floyd)
11. Never Talking To You Again (Hüsker Dü)
12. Gas Chamber (Angry Samoans)
13. This Will Be Our Year (The Zombies)

I'm not sure when the covers album comes out. The new album, Wasting Light, will be out April 12.

I've listened to it a few times already and like most of the songs. Some songs have a good hook with plenty of energy. A few are harder than the recent Foo songs. Most fans will dig it.
