New REM - I am going to check it out.

Buck, Stipe and the guys are putting another one out. I was a big fan of their very early stuff (Life's Rich Pageant, Reckoning) and liked them up through Document, and a couple songs after that. But they had gone bland on me when they moved away from that earlier sound. The last album was better, and this one looks even better too. Kind of a return to form. Maybe Buck's collaboration with The Decemberists, where he re-visits that early sound, has had an impact.

Anyone else like that early REM sound, and/or interested in this new one?

I've listened to is several time now and like most of it. A few songs even remind me of the IRS Records days.
Not a full house of best ever songs, but there's enough here for any long time fan to be glad they got the album.

Been a big fan since Life's Rich Pageant up through Monster. This one sounds pretty good too.
