I actually got this about a week ago, but had to wait until today for the matching 16-ohm vintage Rola alnico speaker to come. I already had one, but had to wait for the twin sister. I posted a thread about the speaker dillema here (http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php/17997-NUVSD...and-not-all-is-well).

The cabinet is a Seismic, ordered from Ebay. They run from $139 up, and this model was $159. The craftsmanship isn't perfect; there are some minor bubbles in the Tolex, and the inside has some sloppy glue work, but it's Baltic plywood, and it's nice and solid. Mounted the speakers from the front for simplicity's sake. Very straightforward, not at all difficult. Everything fit perfectly, including the speaker terminals.

This is after mounting the speakers and putting the wheat-colored grill back on. Again, the craftsmanship isn't perfect; the grillcloth isn't perfectly lined up all the way across. It's not enough to really bother me, though.

Here it is with the new Blackstar HT-5. I find that the cab doesn't have as much bottom end as my other 2 x 12, probably due to the open back. The speakers seem to have much more midrange than anything else. A bit lacking on the top end, but they have a sweet tone, nonetheless.

I may try to do my own panel to seal the back of the cab for more bottom end, but it's not terrible by any means. It sounds very nice, lots of sweet vintage alnico mojo to it. I have noticed that I need to turn the volume up more than I did with my VJ 1 x 12. I'm happy with this setup. A total investment of $200 for the cab, in case you were wondering.

Very nice!
Instead of sealing the back completely, you could use some hinges and get the best of both words.

That's not a bad idea. I think Jet City makes a convertible cab, although I'm not sure how they do it. I could also use Velcro, I guess.
