I was going through the local Kijiji buy and sell the other day, and this Epi caught my eye. I have never seen one in this color and it has a Limited Edition sticker on the heastock. I would say it is a Vintage mahogany.
What makes this a rare beast is the solid mahogany body including the cap, with the maple neck. It is a Korean made and was in 9/10 shape. It came without a case and was a huge bargain. The Treble speed knob is loose and I will probably replace all of them.
I am thinking gold, but all of the Customs have Black. Not sure yet.
If anyone has info on this color, or can point me to a web site I would appreciate it.

Very nice, Z! Welcome to the Epi Plain Top Club!

If you're thinking about changing the color of the speed knobs, you'd probably want to change the pickup rings, pickguard and poker chip as well. Maybe just replace the knobs with black reflector knobs (I'm really digging the reflector knobs lately). Keep us posted, whatever you do!

Sweet, Z. Does the s/n start with an 'S'? I'm just thinking my '01 Sherri II has the Gibson TRC like this one does and the s/n starts with 'S', designating it as Samick Korea factory product. You prolly know but you could poke around here for help: Epiphone Forums (http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/forum/47-epiphone/)

I never really thought about changing all the plastic. It is funny I have a couple of LPs with Gold speedknobs and I never even noticed they had creme plastic pieces. I would have sworn the ones on the Studio Fireburst were Black but they are creme.
Oh well Black it is.
In the pictures you will notice the gold tone has worn off the pickups and some of the tuners, but I am not worried about that. My God I just realized it is 11 years old already.

No it is a Saein. "I". I used to own a 2003 Custom plus from the same Plant. It the one that I should not have traded.
I have a thread started in the Epi forum. that plus the LP forum and no real results yet. I really like the Korean Saein guitars. I do have a Samick Sheraton as you know.

Doh :thwap Yes, I should know that...we've been in discussion on that before that we have that in common... I was starting my first cup of coffee this am when I posted that...in any case, I think I've read that Saien LPs are relatively rare from around then, and that would be a function of their quality making them 'keepers' not 'movers' . so you found a pearl...

The funny thing about it is that I had been looking for a Korean Custom like the one I had in 2003. I had never seen one in this color and it is the second one in the last couple of months for sale locally. I saw that the guy was asking about the same as a regular Epi Standard and I low balled him by another 50 bucks and he took it. I was there in 35 mins.
I spent a little time with it yesterday. Oiled the board with Fret Doctor, waxed her up and tweaked the bridge a little lower.
When I get back from vacation I will take it over for a good set up. But so far it has a 2 mm action and no buzzes.
I guess the Sheraton kind of pushed me over the edge. The day before I found the Custom I was playing the Sheraton for the first time in a couple of months and it just felt so good. Both the Custom and the Sheraton have maple necks and I do like them.
