Hey friends,

I've seen Marnold stating that Satriani's "Always With Me, Always With You" has almost(?) become his wedding song.

My wife and I picked Jimi Hendrix's "The Wind Cries Mary" for our wedding.

That is the reason why I swore to myself that the first song on every new guitar I bring home is "The Wind Cries Mary".

Now comes your story.

Would that be the song you enter the reception to or dance to or that's in the ceremony somehow? I don't know much about most wedding traditions.

We didn't really have a wedding song, but all guests sang a couple of songs a cappella at our wedding, which took place inside of a diner. I guess that makes my wedding song "Be Thou My Vision".

Hey guys, new to the forum so hello :)
I used that particular song as i stated in that thread, while she walked up the aisle. Then we used sublimes "what i got" after the vows and while we were signing the registry. Our first dance at the reception was "tuesdays gone", metallicas version. Was a great wedding and reception! We used them as we are both athiests, but had a traditional type wedding to please the oldies. At the same time it was about us so we put our own spin on it.

Very nice, Jimi! Wish I coulda been there for that...:D

We went 16 bit for our wedding. Before we got married my wife introduced me to some great Japanese RPG's (Role Playing Games). Our favorite was (and still is) Chrono Trigger. The entire game is wonderfully scored but there was one piece that became "our theme". Although there are full orchestra versions and solo piano versions we opted for a recording of the gloriously simple original nintendo 16 bit sound which you can hear here:

I think this was for the candle lighting part. Guess I should dust off the wedding video...

SNES Squaresoft games are ridiculously good, and that's a cool theme, even if I don't remember that particularly well. I love love love Celes' main theme from FF6.

In my case, it was at the reception. We tend to keep our wedding ceremonies religious. I've heard some people ask for some painfully inappropriate music for both weddings and funerals. I heard about a funeral where they had "He Stopped Loving Her Today" playing as the widow walked out. Apparently there is still a need for a cluebat.

We didn't end up using "Always with Me, Always with You" because we didn't have the time to learn to waltz. For the first dance at the reception we used "Here, There, and Everywhere" by The Beatles and "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" by Elvis. Not terribly metal, I know.

My wife walked up the aisle to "Don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith, played by the steel orchestra. Our first dance was 'Drowning' by The Backstreet boys. I sang "Best of my Love by the eagles, (Changing the words slightly of course). The Choir sang "The Prayer" by Josh Groban. !0 years ago next November and I remember it like yesterday :)

Hmm, we had "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About" by Bonnie Raitt, and "These are Days" by 10000 Maniacs. Also a classical piece I can't remember right now.

We had a local blues band at the reception. "Guitar Slim", but not the really famous one.

These guys:

They were really fun!

Sample clips here. "Three hours past midnight" I remember particularly, and really the others too.

Van Morrison's Into the Mystic was our wedding song. We both love his music and that track in particular just screamed out to us :)

"Make it last forever", by Keith Sweat. The 29th of this month will be 22 years of marriage.

My father escorted me to Pachelbel's Canon...

Our song we danced to is the one I consider our wedding song. First song we ever danced to. Journey's 'Faithfully.' Lol...

We had "The Wedding Song." I didn't particularly want it, but my wife did. Her dad sang it and it was nice, if generic. The song I wanted was a song by Jacob's Trouble "She Smiles at the Future" but we couldn't find the music for it. Playing an actual CD wasn't considered for some reason. It was pretty traditional. We had a friend play cello before everything and another friend play trumpet for her walking down the aisle and us walking out.

We had a "worship service" before the actual wedding. About 20 minutes of congregational singing. That turned out to be a bit long as many in attendance weren't church-goers.

With my 2nd wife someone sang 'Annie's Song' in the church I recall...that's the only one I guess. The last time was just the notary and us plus some clerks to wittness so no songs...and besides we'd already left church and llisted as atheists by then.

My friend had a church wedding and when they left the church the organist played the Imperial March super loud on the big organ....that was quite awesome a closing. Wish I had come to think of that back in the day myself.
