Guitarist Bill Frisell may have just turned 60 earlier this year, but it's done nothing to slow him down. He's touring more than ever, and between a new contract with Savoy Jazz, that has allowed him to speed up releases to accommodate more projects than ever before, and his ongoing Live Download Series, where new live shows from the past 25 years are been released every other months, the vastly influential guitarist is finally able to document the many groups that have toured, but not released commercial recordings.

To celebrate the release of his latest CD, Sign of Life: Music for 858 Quartet (Savoy Jazz, 2011), All About Jazz is launching a full week of extensive Bill Frisell coverage, including, with a number of exclusive features that will paint the broadest possible picture of this stylistically unbound guitarist:

April 25:

1. Read Managing Editor John Kelman's new interview with Frisell, Bill Frisell: Ramping It Up;
2. Read John's Extended Analysis of Sign of Life: Music for 858 Quartet;

April 26:

1. Read Bill Frisell: The ECM Years, a 2001 interview, conducted by John, that has never seen the light of day until now, where the guitarist provides a detailed chronology of his important early years, recording for the famous German label;
2. Read John's Extended Analysis of the first 13 entries in Frisell's Live Download Series;
3. Watch Frisell and Vinicius Canturia perform “Mi Declaracin," a track from their latest duo disc, Lagrimas Mexicana (E1 Entertainment).
April 27:

1. Download “1968," another exclusive live track from the 2006 performance with Greg Tardy, Ron Miles, Tony Scherr and Kenny Wollesen;
2. Watch the Bill Frisell Band (Frisell,Hank Roberts, Kermit Driscoll and Joey Baron), performing “Little Brother Bobby," from David Sanborn's terrific 1980s TV show, Night Music.

April 28:

Watch the Bill Frisell Trio (Frisell, Tony Scherr, Kenny Wollesen) perform “La La Means I Love You," at the 2007 Rochester Jazz Festival.

April 29:

Watch the same quintet on this week's exclusive downloads, performing “Sub-Conscious Lee," at the 2006 Salzua Jazz Festival.

There will also be featured photos of Frisell this week, including shots by Monica Frisell, Jimmy Katz, Juan-Carlos Hernandez, Ziga Koritnik and Robyn Stoutenburg.
