Hey Chaps, this is my *new* Burns Cobra in Shadows White. I'll give it some ratings out of 5 stars....

Looks: 5/5 - Looks very smart, especially in this colour...
Finish: 5/5 - Finished in a very high standard!
Sound: 3/5 - Not a bad sound for a standard guitar, lacks a bit of depth....
Build Quality: 5/5 - Very good build quality!
Price: 5/5 - A very neat price, brand new! £219 + P&P

For anyone who is wondering who the hell Burns are, they are a company, originally based in London & founded by Jim Burns. They make very good guitars & designed one especially for Hank Marvin called the Burns Marvin. There not a very well known company in comparison with Fender or Gibson, but I give you my word when I say there are extremely good value for money!

This design originates from the popular Drifter Custom model with matching colour batwing style headstocks.

It features the new Burns knife edge tremolo system and has the low noise, high output Burns Tri-sonic single coil pickups with additional pick-up selection.

Standard features are the bi-directional truss rod and the push-pull tone control that gives increased pick-up selections.

The guitar is available with a rosewood fingerboard and stylish split split scratch plate.

The pick-ups on this guitar are excellent and work in the normal way via the 5 way pick-up selector. In addition to the standard pick-up operation when the first tone pot is pulled it engages additional pick-up selection including all 3 pick-ups engaged and bridge and neck pick-ups engaged giving you jus about every combination possible.

Features:

Knife edge tremolo system
Tri-Sonic pickups
Three ply scratch plate
Rosewood fingerboard
25.5" scale
5 position selector switch
Neck and middle pickup tone control
Bridge tone and push/pull pick up control
Front mounted jack socket

MINI TRI-SONIC® PICKUP

For many years Guitar players have expressed the need to obtain the Classic Tri-Sonic sound from their traditional style double-cut guitars, without the necessity of having to carve larger cavities in the instrument bodies or alter the pick guards/scratch plates to accommodate the larger original units.

By carefully engineering and condensing the original internals and easing them inside a narrower Tri-sonic casing, guitarists can now enjoy the thick, ringing mids and smooth sustain of the classic 60s Tri-sonic, whilst still having access to traditional single coil sounds and warm humbucking tones - all in one instrument!

Adrian Turner is a top guitar and guitar pickup designer in the UK and is a qualified technical engineer.

He is also a specialist in repairing old vintage pickups using original materials where possible.

Since 2009 Adrian has become a major part of the Burns design team and has already contributed by designing the new Mini Tri-Sonic pickup as well as improving the sound of the Rez-o-Matik pickups as used on the Re-issue Hank Marvin and Bison 64 series Guitars.
