Thanks bcdon........according to MapQuest, this place is 81 minutes from me here in Philly.....though I personally think it would be close to 110 minutes. Most certainly an EMPORIUM with a folksy countrified bent to it. Definitely not a Wal-Mart. A store that seems perfect for that area of Pennsy......decidedly more Southern than Yankee.

I've been at that website before. I sure am curious about those Big Green Eggs. I enjoy outdoor cooking. They're pretty pricey though. I have thought about going to one of their Eggfests but haven't made it to one yet ~
We do ok on the Webers for now ~ YUM !

Hey Bob, The Big Green Egg is how I found the site in the first place. You should really go to one of those Eggfests, I'm going to one in Seattle in a couple of weeks -- this one (http://www.pnweggfest.com/), in fact. I don't have an Egg yet, but the Seattle Fest has this deal where you can buy one of the eggs they are using at the festival... so I'll be bring an Egg home with me ;-) Checkout http://www.eggheadforum.com/ for some serious Big Green Egg GAS.

Man, those ribs and chicken wings look awesome! Can't wait to make some myself!

Looks like there is the MidEggLantic Fest 2011 (http://www.fredsmusicandbbq.com/category_s/464.htm) on July 23, 2011 , check it out if you can!

Yeah, I read that Don. I think they said this year it's not open to the public as in past years. But I'm pretty sure if someone were to call up and ask about it they would not be turned away. There's another dealer that I think was in Pa that does a demo day also. A demo egg would certainly be the way to go. I'd probably ask them to leave some goodies on the grate to munch on the way home.
I know the Egg is a different animal than a Weber or most any other grill as it's capable of searing 700+degree heat and they say it excels at long 200 degree cooking with almost no adjusting of the vents. I'd like to have one some day. But until my old Weber is over the hill I can't justify spending all that $$$.
My Weber gas is cooking as good as new and it's got to be 14 or so years old. The kettle is about the same. A buddy who's a griilin' fool and used to work at a hardware store that was a Weber dealer got me one of the last cast iron searing grates. I don't think they have been available for some time. It's basically the round rod construction grate with an open square in the center. Hinged wings on the sides flip open to add charcoal and a heavy cast iron grate sits in the open square. We did chicken breasts, garlic bread, and grilled hearts of Romaine in the kettle tonight, Yeah!

I hear you, Bob. The only reason I'm getting it is that my old Weber is on its last leg. I BBQ year round and living in a rainforest has taking its toll.

Hmm. That stuff is pretty cool, but I'm not so into grilling now that I try to avoid the recreational eating thing.

Are you kidding us Spud or is that really your rig?
My friend back in NJ has a 'tow behind' and he does events and parties with it.

I rebuilt it a couple of years ago for my friend and I often man it while we feed hundreds or thousands of people. I had the thing totally apart with just chassis and wheels. (http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php/7534-Secret-weapon?highlight=secret+weapon)We then had it powdercoated in red.

Hey Don, our band will be having a show at a local brewery that day if you can make it. It will be our first/last show with our lead singer since she's moving to Maine where her husband landed a new brewing gig.

I can send you the details if you can make it.

This one is gas. The big charcoal grill used to cook the flesh on our arms while we turned the food.
