I was totally unfamiliar with her until I saw the info on this album. Could be interesting.

I've just finished only 1 listen, and am very surprised at what I hear, but in a good way. I love some, like some, and don't like some of Joe Bonamassa's albums and projects. I like this, mostly because of Beth Hart's vocals. The whole album works much better then either BBB album, IMO.

That said, this isn't just another Joe playing guitar kinda album. He supports most of the songs and isn't ripping solo's constantly. When you listen to the music and Beth's vocals, you'll know why that becomes important. Sure, we get some great slide work and guitar riffs and solos, bust most of the music revolves around the vocals. "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "I'll Take Care Of You" feature some fine guitar work by Joe.

The Voice of Beth Hart is something incredible in a very bluesy, sultry way. She sings is various styles from Winehouse ( but better, like "Chocolate Jesus"), then silky ballads, to gutsy Janice Joplin blues rock (again, better), to all out soulful blues, especially in the slower ballads like "Ain't No Way". To say she sings with sexiness is an understatement.

Oh, and only after listening did I search her biography and, um, wow!

Beth Hart has an awesome voice. This album, although a Hart / Bonamassa collaboration, is really a showcase for Beth's vocal range. Her interpretation of these blues/soul songs is something truly beautiful. Joe Bonamassa is a fantastic, truly gifted guitarist, and I gotta be honest, I'm a big fan. But to be honest, don't buy this album if you're expecting it to be like any of his solo albums. Joe's playing is the perfect accompaniment to Beth's smouldering vocals, it never overshadows her voice....the mark of a true pro musician in my opinion. No egos here, just great music.

Yes, her voice is better than on her earlier albums.

I'll be honest here, although I'd heard of Beth Hart, I'd never heard any of her stuff. I bought this album cos I'm a big Bonamassa fan. But when I heard her voice on here, I just went WOW !!!!!!!
