I didn't think Marshall Valvestates had tubes in them -- do they?

As the name Valvestate implies, they are hybrids with a 12AX7 pre-amp.

You forgot to add ", stupid" to the end of that sentence. :D

Actually, you're misreading Eric. If you knew him better you'd know that was intended as self-deprecation, not an accusation.
I realize it could be taken both ways.

I considered one of those Valvestates when I first got going. Like a 30 or 50 watt. One was being sold locally. They might be ok, but I am glad I got my Peavey.

Bummer -- they deleted the post. For the newcomers, this was a CL ad where the guy was selling a Marshall Valvestate head and a pair of Oakleys as a package deal. Strange combo.

Perhaps if I had stated it this way:
They are hybrid amps, with a 12AX7 tube pre-amp into a solid state amplification section, hence the name Valvestate.
My original statement was not intended to be sarcastic, demeaning or self-deprecatory. Just a simple informative answer.
As for the Craigslist ad, which I saw: made sense to me that you'd wanna be wearing cool shades while blasting your Marshall.

I think you whiffed on BK's point, Heywood, but I don't care that much -- can we just drop it?

Perhaps yet another example about misinterpreting posts. My bad, as they say.
