Excruciatingly slow. Response time is normal for other web sites I use, so I figure the problem lies here.

Same here. All pages load slowly.
It looks like it is waiting on pagead2.googlesyndlcation.com.

Friggin ads are a bane of this site......

Normally, not a problem. Just needs a bit of tweaking.
Server space and bandwidth are not cheap.

Server space and bandwidth are not cheap.
I don't know about that. For simple fora such as this, services like Yuku are stupid cheap for ad-free enjoyment. I realize that the recent problems here are probably an anomoly, but it has been going on for a few days, and the ads since the re-vamp are annoying.

It's acting slow for me too. Maybe it needs some lube?:socool

All better now. No more lag.

EDIT: Disregard. I posted above from work. It is still slow at home.

At least 16 seconds for each page to load for me.

This page, with 8 posts and no pics or video took over 40 seconds to load for me.
That's molasses level slow.

No problems whatsoever for me, and I've used it on both my Linux and WinXP partitions, with Firefox 5 on both.

I've been getting some serious lag on my end, but not 40 seconds worth. More like 15-30 for the most part, and that's for pages without pics. Sssssslllllloooooowwwwwwww.....

Approximately 40 seconds here.

But I must say that I'm really impressed by how quickly the site administrators are all over this.:help

Everyone is cutting their budgets it seems. Robert must have had to go to a dial up server. :rollover

MAXIFUNK
August 20th, 2011, 01:34 PM
seems the sever needs to be rebooted to clear up some stale handles and so forth and maybe more memory.

Nice attitude. Maybe you should create and admin your own site. I'll stop now before this gets ugly.

I can remember the days of dialup when every page took that long to load... :thwap

Still, if the adverts bother you that much, get an adblocker plugin for your browser (I run one, although I have got a paid subscription here to make up for it...:AOK).

Sorry guys I am away on holidays. Will fix when I get home tomorrow. Sorry, and thanks for hanging in there!

Thanks for the suggestion! I thought I had the necessary add-ons, but I may have been wrong. I'll review and update as needed and see how it works out.

Just got back and I haven't touched a thing yet in regards to this issue. Is the problem gone?

I was away and did not have access to view or fix the issue.

Bookkeeper's Son

Seems OK as of today.

I just needed to come home, and everything fixes itself? Perhaps the forum software is afraid of me. :)

I have to wonder if it was a routing issue. If I would have been at my computer during that time a traceroute would have told the tale. If it was a server problem, it seems unlikely that it would have fixed itself.

Super slow today from 2 different networks and using 2 different browsers.
:zzz
It take minutes to do what usually take seconds, but only with The Fret. I don't see any outside (google analitics) web sources causing the latency.

It's still slower than usual, but not too bad. I'm running the site on Firefox right now.

Not really. This direct link to your post took over 30 seconds to load, as does the 'new posts' search.

It is loading very quickly for me. 2 seconds tops.

It's so slow that I was just able to read this thread from last August.

I never noticed a recent slow down.

That's because you live closer to Robert in Alberta than some of us... You really need to understand this interwebz thing more. :poke
