Big Muff

I have an early 80's big muff that I have started to use again. I don't want to use batteries any more and it has an 1/8" jack for the power input. Does any one know if the tip is pos. or neg.?

Just an idea, buy one of those one spot power supplies (http://www.guitarbitz.com/guitar-effect-pedals-c25/single-effect-pedals-c28/1spot-pedalboard-power-supply-p506?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=506&utm_campaign=froogle#506) with the battery attachment and attach to the big muff. You may have to drill a hole to fit the cable.

Tough one to answer categorically as big muff's have had both polarities over the years as far as I know.

If it were mine, I'd open her up and identify the transistors first. If they are NPN types you can assume negative ground, if PNP, positive ground. From there just measure continuity between signal ground (the sleeve of your input or output jacks) and the DC socket to find out if you need center positive or negative.
