I have had a great running season so far, and won the Timex Road Race Series in Alberta. That got me on a trip to Toronto to run the 10 km road race championships, representing Alberta. I even get some money to help with flights and hotel!

I am a Masters runner now (soon 42) and I guess I'm a competitive old fart.

If there are any Toronto members here, perhaps someone would like to meet up for a beer or coffee on Sat or Sun night?

I'll have to look around to see if there's a good show I could catch. Let me know if you have any ideas.

I have never been in Toronto before.

Cool... I love the Metro Zoo!
Born and raised in Toronto (Beaches), and live just to the east of it now about 30 minutes from there.

I'll be up north this weekend, but will be home late Sunday afternoon. Flip me a note if you don't already have plans and maybe we can hook up. :AOK

Excellent! I could always knock off work a bit early Monday and show you around some of the city.

Thanks!

How do I easiest get from the airport to 4694 Kingston Rd Scarborough, ON M1E 2P9 CA? That's my hotel.

When does your flight arrive at Pearson Rob?... rush hour on the 401 is a bugger, but likely the best route east to Morning Side, south 4 km's to Kingston Rd, and take a left (east) on Kingston Road for 2 km's and your Hotel will be on the left (North) side of the road.

I guess you're picking up a vehicle for your trip here.

Mapquest suggested this... (Ooops, I meant to say Google Maps)
Toronto Pearson International Airport
Mississauga, Ontario
(416) 776-9892

1. Head east 300 m
2. Take the ramp to ON-409 E 88 m
3. Keep right at the fork to continue toward ON-409 E 220 m
4. Take exit 1 to merge onto ON-409 E toward ON-427/ON-401 5.9 km
5. Continue onto ON-401 E (signs for Weston Road/Black Creek Drive/Collectors) 34.5 km
6. Take the exit toward ON-2 W 500 m
7. Turn right onto Kingston Rd 2.1 km
8. Take the ramp onto Kingston Rd

Destination will be on the right
400 m

4694 Kingston RdToronto, ON

I arrive at 1:35 PM

I plan to not rent a vehicle, because I'm all by myself. I figure I can keep the costs down by taking bus, subway and my legs?

Hopefully there's a bus from the airport over to where my hotel is.

Well you might just be able to run it faster than it'll take on the transit, but I forwarded you a note with some details on what shuttles will take you to the Subway, then across town where you can catch the bus over to your hotel.

The Subway will be a good long ride, but it's clean, safe, and affordable! (maybe have a book handy)

Thanks David and everyone.

I'll take lots of photos of the trip. Photography is becoming more and more addictive for me...

Looks like the Subway is the way to go. I don't mind it being slow - I have lots of time!

Be careful with the Subway. Jared lost 200 lbs on the Subway and if you lost that much you'd vanish into an alternate universe. Run fast .
