Hey folks,

This one has been a pretty big challenge. We've been working on this on and off for quite awhile. I think we've finally got it dialed it pretty close, but now is when we'll find out for sure. :) I think DeeAa's voice fits this one very well.

For those not familiar, this is the Queen classic, "Fat Bottomed Girls" and is in the 'rock' genre. Video coming soon, but for now here is the audio:

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment... I'm pretty anxious to hear your thoughts on this one.

Ayh the vocal harmonies were way more complex than the finished product seems to be!

Wow... My momma always told me 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'. I hope that's not what happened here. :-|

Yeah this must have fallen under the radar for whatever reason...I'd think at least the cool guitar harmonies near the end would be worth a comment or two :-)

It's great! Those harmonies are tough to nail, and y'all did a great job. I'll comment more later.

SOundcloud is blocked at work, and I keep forgetting to check from home.

I must be losing it. I don't know how I missed this the first time around. Odd.

Anyway. Fat Bottom Girls is one of those songs that is almost possible to cover. From the harmonies to the bass part, it's almost like they tried to write the uncoverable song. I think you did a pretty respectable job with it, even more so when you throw in the degree of difficulty. One quibble is that you seemed to play the remix version more than original version. The remix is the only one you hear on the radio around here anymore. I don't think it improves on the original in any way.

I think you guys did a very good job with it. Those harmonies sound like they'd be really hard to balance out -- it almost seems like different parts take the melody at certain points in the chorus, which would make it really difficult to cover. I imagine Queen purists would sneer at me for liking the song, but it's one of my faves from Queen.

Thanks for posting it!

Nah. It's one of my favorites too and I like Queen more than anyone I know.

Wow! There's the responses I was hoping for! :D

Yeah, this one was a tough one for sure. The vocal harmonies were indeed the toughest parts. We kept going back on this one for quite a while before we thought it was 'good' enough to put out there.

We did the 'remix' or long version of the song as it's now simple enough to cut it down or chop it up however we want. Simple process to edit it down to the original 'radio version'. We definitely put our own on spin on it, but I think we're still pretty faithful to the original. We didn't want to sound EXACTLY like it (and I doubt we could have ever pulled that off anyway).

Thanks everyone for the comments. We appreciate it!!

You guys did a great job, but I gotta say I FREAKIN' DESPISE that song. I find it utterly abhorrent. You guys are are a pretty talented band. Now go cut some more Iron Maiden, please.

Thanks, Commodore... appreciate your time and comments, especially considering your feeling about the song. I take it that its the subject matter/lyrics that bother you?

The Iron Maiden might have to wait... I think we're going to TRY some Rush first. That's going to be another BIG challenge. :)

No, the topic matter doesn't bother me. I've always said "more cushion is better pushin'", lol. And I'd rather have a girl 20lbs overweight than 5 lbs underweight. I've just always hated that song, for some reason.

We have done Hallowed be thy Name but I dunno why it's not been released yet if even as audio only. I think it's all done Steve?

I understand about just not liking a song, Commodore. Glad it's nothing more. :)

Dee, yeah... we posted the audio for "Hallowed...", here and elsewhere I believe. But it was temporary do to licensing. We're waiting for the video to be completed so we can post it to it's permanent home on YouTube.
