Hi all,
So I've been itching for another Les Paul for awhile to serve as a backup for my Agile AL-3100 and just to have around for kicks. I contacted our own Frankenfretter about one of his many LP-type guitars to find out if he'd be willing to sell me one of them and possibly soup it up in the process, similar to what he did with this guitar (http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php/18303-Agile-Lemon-Drop-Project-is-finished!-New-photos-5-27-11?highlight=).
That day did come and the guitar is now in my possession. It's this guitar (http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php/18256-*NGD*-Belated.-Another-Agile...-Yes-indeed.?highlight=), and in the linked thread FF details some of the modifications he has done to the guitar, which include new pups with different magnets, new electronics, new tuners/knobs, and new caps and what not.
I got this last Thursday and have been futzing around on it over the weekend, and I will say that I'm pretty impressed. The first thing I noticed was how great it looks. It was pretty nice looking in the pictures he had taken, but it looks considerably better in person. According to my wife, it's now my best-looking guitar, so there's that.
Other than looks, it's also a very comfortable and nice-sounding guitar. The neck pup is warm and the bridge is cutting without being too harsh, which isn't all that common in my experience. I'll be playing this in a band situation tomorrow night and should have a slightly better idea of how it performs in the real world after that, but for now I will say that I'm pretty impressed. It also feels a good bit lighter than the AL-3100, which is a welcome change.
Sorry I don't have any pictures other than those threads I linked to, but my camera is in for repair right now and I don't really have any way to get you any new pictures until a couple of weeks in the future. I will try to remember to update with some pics eventually though.
