Just finished watching a killer set on DVD from Cosmosquad.
This progressive fusion/rock/metal trio is one of my favorite groups.
Jeff Kollman is an extraordinary guitar player (and a heck of a nice guy).
Shane Gaalaas (drums) and Christopher Maloney (bass) are so friggin' tight.
Kollman inspires me to play and try new and different things, which I think is great.
If you want to see a player with absolute command of the guitar, I encourage you to seek out this DVD, "Lights...Camera...Squad".
Some tasty bits from the disc are floating around the tube...

Jeff is a favorite player of mine. He's done several Glenn Hughes albums and along with the Meatbats, another group Jeff is in, Cosmoquad is great stuff. Jeff is one of those guys, like Craig Erickson, that I could listen to all day.

What's the name of the DVD? Christmas is coming ya know.

Right on Spud!
Title is "Lights...Camera...Squad"
It's a SoCal show from 2007.
I keep watching it over & over.
I bought it right from Jeff's Marmaduke Label store for $18. I asked Jeff to sign it too. No prob.

Very cool stuff!

I like the technical, yet grooving bass lines.

The guitar work is wicked good. I like how clean his sound is.

Although it sounds somewhat technically-oriented, it's not so over-the-top that listenability suffers. I mean, I like Dream Theater alright, but sometimes it's just a bit too intense to just let it roll and enjoy. These guys strike a very nice balance of feel and technical ability.

I'll download some their stuff now.

Yes indeed! Jeff is a really great player. His other work is great too, like with the Bombastic Meatbats (Chad Smith's side project), also with Glenn Hughes.
