I actually picked this up Halloween weekend, but just been too damn busy to get on the laptop for pleasure to share my good fortune.
When my Bugera V22 developed a mystery glitch, and the repair quote exceeded the purchase price, I decided to put those dollars to use in a different direction. The Amp tech stated that, one thing about point to point tube amps, when problems arise, they are easy to identify and address. Given that my amps get taken out quite a bit, that seemed like good counsel.
Well you can't get more basic and old school than this. this is a 1965 Ampeg Jet. A 15W all tube PTP amp. Volume, tone, tremolo (chopper effect, only adjustment is speed), power switch. That's all folks.
Tone for days, nice cleans, breaks up beautifully around 6 on the dial, and gets downright gainey when dimed. I play my 535 with humbuckers, and have flatwound 11's onboard. Beautiful thick tones.
Switch to the bridge and think the opening strains of "same old song and dance", nails it. Cheap, about the size of a BJr, and super light. I couldn't be happier.
Without further ado....
