Got a Epiphone dot ordered. Was wondering how good the pups are on this model. Anybody have one of these. How to you like yours if you have one???

Some love 'em, some don't. Inveterate modders seem to hate everything that's stock, so, that maybe doesn't inform anything. YOU gotta decide what YOU think.

I was playing my grandson's Dot a few weeks ago, and I thought it sounded great. Personally, I don't think pickups are the big deal that some others do. I think amplifiers/effects are the major source of the tone.

And happy soon-to-be new guitar day!!!

I got one this year, the pickups are fine. I think it would sound better with new PUP's but for the money I think the stock ones are very good. My main gripe is the tuners which I may replace before too long, I seem to spend a lot of time tuning it.

Recent Epi pickups are really quite good and should only be replaced if you really want something completely different or have lots of money to throw at it (and the ears of a bat or TGP contributor :)). They're usually chosen to sut the style of guitar too. The Les Pauls and SGs usually get a hot bridge pickup, the Dots get a pair of PAF types.

You may want to check the truss rod and set up first. I have an epi and have played with several other epis and properly set up I usually dont have that problem. Also, as you probably know, strings are a big game changer too. But if you checked all that, it may be the tuners. Just a way to try and save some money though.

Have had my Epi now for about 3 weeks. I think the pups are fine. All I did was change the pickguard (tortise shell) and put on some different strings Light Top/Heavy bottom. Then had it set up & had the action lowered. All is good now!!!

Thanks for the tip, it plays really well as is so I haven't made any adjustments. I'll keep this info in mind the next time a change strings. Cheers!

What brand of tuners are on yours? Mine came with Jinho Grover-lookalikes, and I find them excellent, even a little smoother than the Grover Rotomatics I put on my A&L.
