I just became aware of Carvin's preloaded SC (SSS) pickguard offerings.

Anybody ever encounter such?

I am curious about pickups as well as component quality.
I am longing for a decent Strat and have a couple of average bodies laying about...

BTW trying that American Standard at GC yesterday was not a good idea...:drool and that goes for the used PRS SE Custom... hmm:help, I am doomed as doomed can be!

Which pups do they have? I think you have an option. Usually they have AP11s on 'em which are ceramic pups. Lots of good reviews on 'em.

Now they have a new single coil pups called the S60A. They are alnico 5 pups. Pretty sweet as I have a set for my Carvin Bolt.

Both sets have pups in reverse also (AP11R & S60AR) for middle pos.

Interesting.
Indeed, the preloaded SSS pickguards I looked at have S60A.

The S60A looks cool. I bought a set to put in a black PG for the tuxedo look. As to sound they sound pretty much like a humbucker would since they're alnico 5. The AP11 will sound like what a strat would.
