Looks like someone ripped off Guthrie Govan. :( He's a super guy so I'm sure whoever stole his stuff has some major bad karma heading his way!

This is horrible news, so much gear much of it with sentimental value stolen from Guthrie and Co. The following message was posted by Guthrie Govan on his MySpace page please send this post on to as many people as possible in the hope that this gear can be retrieved somehow.

An appeal for your help, after a recent van break-in in Rome :-(
The following isn’t exactly a fun read, but it would be hugely appreciated if y’all could have a quick look through the following: we need your help!

I’ve just finished a tour of Italy with Dave Kilminster, Seth Govan and Pete Riley. Unfortunately, someone broke into our tour van in Rome, during the afternoon of Dec 17th, and stole pretty much the entire contents. This sucks on a number of levels: not only did the theft make it very difficult for us to play the remainder of the shows we had booked on our Italian tour, but also we’re now faced with the prospect of having to find some way of replacing a lot of equipment – both rental gear and personal stuff. Some of the stolen gear – particularly Seth’s Warwick bass, which he’s played almost exclusively for the last 22 years or so – also has considerable sentimental value, as you can doubtless imagine.

The Italian police didn’t seem to think there was anything they could do about this situation, so… we’re reaching out to you, the denizens of the internet, in the hope that maybe someone out there can help us to retrieve at least something. Please have at least a quick look through the following list, and report any suspicious sightings: our only real hope of recovering this stuff lies in the fact that some of it is fairly distinctive/unusual, so in theory it should be hard to sell and easy to spot, if you know what to look for…

If you can think of any website or forum where it might be helpful to post this stuff, please, please copy/paste the following as you see fit!

(NB – although the theft took place in Italy, it seems feasible that the people responsible might instinctively head for the border of some nearby country and try to sell our gear there…?) Anyhow… here’s a list of what was taken. I’ve left out the various cables/power supplies etc, but needless to say we lost a lot of that stuff, too…

SETH’S BASS GEAR

1989 Warwick Streamer bass, natural finish.

(Distinguishing features: smaller replacement Schaller tuners; screw for lower strap button replaced with a Philips style screw; thumb-sized indentation above the “P-Bass” pickup; long dark stripe/imperfection in the wood on the back of the bass, above the through-neck; small knot in the wood near the top of the inside upper horn…)

SWR SM900 head, serial # 4400106010
SWR Goliath 4×10 speaker cabinet (4 Ohm) serial # 4410500410

Boss OC-2 octave pedal, Boss TU-2 tuner, Boss power supply, various cables.

PETE’S DRUM GEAR

2x Brunetti Mercury heads, serial numbers ME10550 and ME10650 (in flight cases);
2x Brunetti 4×12 cabinets (in flight cases).

DK’s pedals:

Boss digital reverb;
Xotic Effects “EP” Booster;
Suhr Riot distortion;

Ernie Ball VP JR volume pedal.

GG’s pedals:
(mounted in a distinctively crappy-looking “tea tray” pedalboard):

RetroSonic “Vintage Vibes” chorus;
TC Electronic Flashback delay;
TC Electronic Polytune tuner;
Guyatone WR-3 envelope filter;
Dunlop “Jerry Cantrell” signature wah;

That's a shame. About a month or two ago something similar happened to Jason Isbell and his band. Their van and trailer was stolen with much of their gear still in it. The local police were able to locate the vehicle, but it was too late, the gear had already been removed.

Thieving in and of itself is bad enough, but there's a special place in Hell for people who steal instruments (and the music sucks there).

It's really bad that they lost the concert films. That's NOT replaceable.

People that target musicians should be tied to a chair and made to listen to Rebecca Black nonstop until their brains burst.

Beyond low. I hope they get their gear back and the ****'s get caught.

Can you imaging losing your number one bass that you've played for 22 years?

I feel bad for them, but conversely they are touring professionals. How the heck does this happen? How do you leave your stuff unguarded at all in today's day and age? That doesn't justify theft, but man.

Well, the stuff was in a van and I'm sure they left the stuff in there all the time. However, I agree, it was just a matter of time.

I'm listening to their album now... Wow, this is certainly a guitar and bass player's album! The drumming cannot be overlooked, either. Guthrie is not only the brightest new talent, but has a great sense of composition. He sure is not just another shredder.

So, you have all this incredible talent, and they have somehow managed to put out an album that is more than just highly skilled musicians strutting their stuff. It is very entertaining music, period.

Well I don't know if he'll get his stuff back or not, but he just got $9.99 from me. After reading this thread I checked them (Aristocrats) out and they blew my head off. Really amazing stuff.
