Peeking ahead into the new year, what are you guys looking forward to?

For purchases, I'd like to get some of the Ed Friedland instructional books.

This year, I'd really like to focus on improving my bass playing. Last year was a bit stagnant although my funk abilities were a bit improved.

Also, the band will likely be playing more gigs and I'm really looking forward to that too.

This year has started out horribly, but I do look forward to a couple new pedals this year, namely a reverb and a fuzz.

Also, possibly...

Probably some purging of gear. I'm considering getting rid of all but maybe 4-5 pedals and I'm undecided about guitars. I'll probably upgrade a couple and see if I can ditch the duplicates. 5 electric guitars feels pretty excessive.

I'd also like to get in some sort of steady music situation, even if it's just a regular garage band or jam night.

All of this is contingent on me moving somewhere though. I can't really make an educated decision on what to keep if everything but one guitar and a practice amp are in storage and waiting to be moved across the county. I think a job and the subsequent move will be here before I know it, but it feels like forever right now.

Looking forward to going back to Texas (Austin/San Antonio) at the end of January for a nice vacation. After that, I am really looking forward to the end of July as I'm going to Cheyenne Frontier Days (http://www.cfdrodeo.com/) and to stay at the best place on Earth, The Colorado Cattle Company (http://www.coloradocattlecompany.com/)!

Aside from that, I hope to exercise more, read more, and play guitar... 2012 is already looking good! :dude

Purchase? I may trade my Mustang I for a Mustang III. Not so much for the wattage, but for the different design and interface, plus the extra effects. The 12" speaker will be nice as well.

I'm also thinking about trading my POD HD500 http://markweinguitarlessons.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif for a Carl Martin PlexiTone and maybe a good reverb pedal or an A/B switch to parallel my guitar to 2 amps.
Yes, while I really enjoy what the HD500 does, I'm not using very much of its capability. My tone has been refined to various clean tones and a few crunch to full yet clear lead tones. The PlexiTone fits the bill.

Also, I'm narrowing my list for a guitar with TV Jones/Filtertron pickups. While I'm liking the Gretsch G5120/5122's, the Reverends are such a great playing and sounding guitars, I'm leaning that way...

For me, mostly I am looking forward to learning and playing as follows: Follow up with some "lead" guitar (really fretboard knowledge) materials I am working on and mastering the info therein, and second, come up with some sort of rhythm guitar regimen to improve that aspect of my playing. Lastly, if I can find a regular and dependable jam/band/playing live opportunity, I would love that.

As far as gear, I don't really need anything. I may consider moving some stuff around with regard to amphs. Maybe. I may post another thread about my thoughts there. The only other gear thing I can think of is making up a swappable pick guard with either a mini-humbucker or TV Jones type in the neck for my tele, like Vood did last year. Tort, or mother of pearl. I think I am fine on pedals, though I may build me a pedal board or a large and small pedal board.

Hey, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to get your existing tele up and running?:poke
