Uh oh! That looks like trouble for a G.A.S.er (checks paypal balance).

Intriguing. Any word of street price?

I'd guess about $800. If these have the same quality as the previous Prophecy's, they should be great guitars for the price range. Better than lower end Gibsons in my experience.

Definitely kick the butt of regular grade Gibsons, especially if you prefer a slim taper neck, in everything else but the very thick lacquer on the prophecies, IMO, if that is an issue.

That blue LP sure looks gasworthy...I wonder if it's heavy or chambered and I sure hope the price will be much lower than 800 or so. I paid 350;- for my SG which is a GX model I modded to basically EX model. Might have to get me an LP again if it's light and not too expensive...

Non-chambered...sigh...I guess my GAS gear towards a Charvel Desolation still after all....

I like the looks of 'em, especially without the silly first generation inlays. That black one looks way cool.

Yeah, those seemed like a definite response to the Desolations--more "metal" Les Pauls. I approve.

A few features to compare between the two brands:

The Charvel has an oil finished 12"-16" compound radius neck, Desolation active pickups, and a tummy bevel on the back of the body.

The Epiphone does not have a tummy bevel, has a painted 14" radius neck, but has much better upper fret access and EMG active pickups.

Both have jumbo frets and the necks are almost the same width only differing by 2/100s of an inch.

I guess like the slightly more round, even oldskool radius, absolutely love the neck on the Prophecy SG for instance...the weight is the only issue I just don't want...having played an LP for a looong time I don't want that kind of a millstone round my neck any more...although, not sure how much the Desolations weigh either.

Anyway, not gonna get either any time soon I'm sure...steadily getting the used-to-be Yamaha build nearer completion. Just installed the bridge studs last night...it's gonna be quite a fun shredder, gibson scale as well, but kinda flattish neck, dunno what radius but it's rather flat...not modern Ibanez flat but flatter than all my other axes.

Epiphone seems to be a veritable fountain of new and exciting models these days.

They appear to be really plugged in to features and models that people want at (relatively) affordable prices.

I do like the look and spec of that dark red GX.

I ran across this Epiphone overview from NAMM that showcases several cool models.
The new 339's start at about 4:20. The 339 Pro in Pellum Blue starts at about 9:00.
