-34 already last night. Tonight expected to go below -40...perfect time for a Sauna party and some rolling in the snow naked & drink loads of vodka!!!

Actually this is what we drink:

http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/50496_28574352955_6609623_n.jpg

It's like vodka but made of pure grain instead of potato or whatever; made to 99,7& i.e. pure alcohol and then diluted with spring water to near normal vodka strenght, 38% i.e. 76 proof for Americans...MUCH better tasting than most if not all vodkas, Finlandia, Absolut, even Stoli tastes like cleansing agent in comparison. Only the few good ones like the Russian Standard get close.

This tastes great as is, as I normally have it, room temp & straight up in shot glasses. Pure taste of great alcohol with nothing distracting from the taste!

That's a bit nippy. We've had an extraordinarily mild winter. Temps have been way above average and we're way behind on snowfall.

We've heard on the news how cold your part of the world has been, which is not the usual story in the US.

I'd send you our local vodka, but I'm afraid it would be emptied by the delivery people by the time it got to you! I have half a 750ml bottle left in the freezer.

Like marnold said, it's been really warm this year for most of North America. I'm in Calgary this weekend on vacation, and it's borderline t-shirt weather. Seems like it's just that sort of year this year.

I'd be interested to try that vodka you mention. I'm not much of a liquor drinker, but vodka is probably the one I like the best when I do go that route.

Vodka? To each his own, I suppose.. but I suggest a nice single-malt.

Um, any room for food on that table? :poke

Most single malts I'd like to try are a bit pricey, but the MacAllan 10 I have is pretty good.
I prefer a well made yet affordable bourbon, like Buffalo Trace or Angel's Envy.

If you mean the Tito's, it is super smooth, filtered 5 times, and only runs about $20 for 750ml. It should be available in most decent liquor stores.

Isn't whisky just vodka that was burnt bad? ;-) seriously, though, I love a good cognac and I don't mind whisky but it gives me bad vibes for some reason. I never get angry usually but whisky for some reason makes me feel annoyed.

Last night it was minus 42 at best...my car thermometer just showed two lines...doesn't go that low apparently. Now it's again a cozy -32 or so.

Well, that too, but I was actually referring to deeaa's grain vodka... :notme

A couple of pictures from my yard round midday...sun is up again for several hours every day so it's really enjoyable now. And only -29 now! Feels like summer already :-)

Looks like a nice day to fire up that outdoor grill, Dee!

I've been in -28 F on top of a mountain once, and that was plenty cold. I've skied in -7 and the 1-piece ski suit still kept me warm. I was in my 20's though.

I get cold easier now that I'm finally getting old!

I just got home from mountain biking at the local park. It's about 15 C here. Actually feels much warmer.

I was wearing shorts and t-shirt for the ride and was comfy the whole time.

It looks like you're well fortified for the cold there Deea.

Dude! You need a huge bonfire and matching party. You need to thin the herd a little.

Deeaa - I can imagine -42 or -32...but I never want to go there. Hang tight spring is just around the corner.
