View Full Version : repainted one of my Strats....sort of a daphne blue

i'm digging it. i painted my red strat because i've wanted a daphne blue or sonic blue strat for several years.

this is how it began life:

the first paint attempt wasn't successful. this time i'm happy:

the first time i painted it, the blue guitar turned surf green as the poly final clear coat yellowed. it ended up looking like this:

nice, but i already had a surf green strat. i didn't want another.

so i bought a Ryobi sander last week, sanded off the green, and re-sprayed the blue. no clearcoat this time. its a bit rough here and there, and i need to buff it, but overall, i'm loving the way this looks. :dance

Completely dig it, man! If it wears a little bit, it will fit in with the neck perfectly, IMO... The neck on that Strat is awesome, too.
