Hi all,
I am in the process of developing a website for a retail outlet college project (not for a real outlet - purely fictitious) that sells electric / acoustic guitars and amps and with your help I can do well at this. So, I have put together a number of questions and would be very grateful if you took the time to answer.

1)What is the first thing you want to see when you open the homepage?
2)What makes a guitar website visually appealing?
3)What would make you use a certain website over another?
4)What information do you want to see about the guitar(s)?
5)What annoys you about guitar websites? (what do you not want to see etc?)
6)What is the one feature that makes a guitar website stand out from all others?

1. The 1st thing I wanna see on a _local_ store's webpage is opening hours TODAY, i.e. up to date, address and telephone number, in order of importance. VERY often I want to check if some store is open today or not, and sometimes the info is very hard to find.

2. Gear porn. Lots of nice pics of guitars and amps.

3. For what use? Buying stuff? A very active used guitars / misc. parts / amps / junk / super specials department that is updated frequently - preferably daily.

4. The basic rundown the maker gives. Pups, scale, etc. Nothing fancy.

5. Stupid, exaggerated sales pitches and rotten pictures of gear. Excessive prices of course.

6. I frequent a few used gear forums and guitar forums. Active used gear or 'flea market' with perhaps a very simple forum/comment system could work. Perhaps people could put their used axes on sale for commission and try to help sell it via the forum.

It is good that you are going to develop website for guitars. You should take car of the following things while developing a site.

1 : Home page should be attractive, should contain all the details about services and contact information. you can make design better by using flas or some animations.

2 : For visual effect add some nice images of guitar and its parts.

3 : Uniqueness will make users to use certaine website over another

4 : Provide all the information for each guitar like model, product number, description and its facalities and competibilities.

5 : you can put videos, offers and somer other stuff which can entertain the user.
