We have a blues gig coming up on Sept 11 and we need 25 songs.

Can you suggest some good blues tunes for a 4 piece band, with a female vocalist? Drums, Guitar, Vocals, Bass. We have Myra on vocal cords - she is an amazing blues singer.

Here's a set list from an earlier, short blues gig we did. Some we could add that we used to play - Kansas City, Mustang Sally, Soulshine, Mercury Blues, and SRV tunes like Cold Shot, Pride and Joy etc, but everybody does SRV...

1. Start It Up (Robben Ford)
2. Life By The Drop (SRV)
3. Shake Your Moneymaker
4. Voodoo Woman (Tedeschi)
5. Route 66
6. You Need To Be With Me (Tedeschi)
7. Tore Down
8. Love Me Like A Man (Bonnie Raitt)
9. Hound Dog
10. Pack It Up (Bonamassa version)
11. Little By Little
12. Mojo Workin'

You got some Joe B. up there, how about one or both of these? I like both of them a lot.

I know Mayer does this as a trio, but I am sure you could work up good versions as a quartet.

I thought to play the blues you just have to decide with the others which chords to play, and then start, repeat as many times as needed. Sing whatever comes to mind to complain about? :-)

I have a Memphis Minnie record, there may be something there for the female vocalist...!

How about this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZm__okfkmA)?

Quite colorful, following Dee's idea a bit... LOL

Other: "Stormy Monday", in the Freddie King fashion?

Street Corner Talking, an oldie by Savoy Brown. Easy to play, a real crowd-pleaser 'cause you don't hear it much

We are doing Soulshine, I'll check with Myra if she wants to do Stormy Monday. I like the old jazz versions (Ella, etc) better though! :)

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have added several to my list, and we are having a band meeting tonight. We'll decide next week, collectively, which tunes to do.

Great, GREAT tune! Anybody who thinks that "The Blues" can't make you grin from ear to ear hasn't heard this tune! Not sure that anybody but B.B. is qualified to sing it though....

Nice set list....some of the tunes I'm not familiar with. lol Hey, do you play slide on any of the tunes? Shake Your Moneymaker is a rollickin' good tune for overdriven slide.

Nah, I don't play slide. I suck.

We are doing 2 instrumentals too.

One them is this one http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_songs/1007859

For the other instrumental, any ideas? Perhaps Hideaway? But it feels so "overdone"...

Heard some great slide last night at the Bonnie Raitt concert. She also rocked vocally, and also guitarwise on "Love me Like a Man". She held down the song with just her on acoustic (great job!) and her bass player. I bet Myra will be great on that tune. (oh, and you too. :))

My favorite "blues" instrumental is "Riviera Paradise". You know that one?
