Taken at a local car show. This lovely model was nice enough to allow me to take a few shots of her after finishing posing for another photographer. She was just great and a very charming lady. Anyway, enjoy...

The series was taken with my favorite m43 setup - Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 + Panasonic Leica 25mm F/1.4.

Judging by how the cars are opening their hoods that far up, they are in awe as well...??!?

What is a "m43 setup"?

Nice composition. After reading about the rule of thirds, as applied by painting masters, I used it at my very, very modest level, and all of a sudden my pics came alive. Handy with home decoration too!

I worked a fashion show this weekend. I managed to get some models to stop on the way in the back door and let me take some shots. I'll post those later.

Anyway, your colors and clarity are really nice with that camera. I just got a 10 mp camera that should be here next week. Seriously looking forward to the upgrade from a 3 mp point and shoot.

Thanks guys.

m43 is "micro 4/3" or "micro four thirds" a system created by a collab between Olympus and Panasonic and other 3rd parties. The sensor is slightly smaller than an APS-C camera sensor, which is slightly smaller than a full frame sensor. Anyway, it is designed to be able to take pictures just as alluring as DSLRs but in a much smaller form - body and lenses.

I still have several Canon DSLR bodies and lenses and haven't jumped completely into the m43 system but I sure do love the convenience and the output these cameras deliver.

One more thing, when I am using m43 for creativity, I really try NOT to shoot in RAW because the whole point is to be more liberated and do less work. I specifically chose the GX1 because I love the quality of the images right OOC. When I use my Canons I always shoot RAW and spend a lot of time in post production and it just becomes a chore. I reserve DSLR + RAW for very special events only now.

Spud, post up the pics I'd like to see them.

Very nice photos! The Micro 4/3 stuff is really awesome. I still have an Olympus 510 that I just love the jpgs from. I also have a full frame Nikon, but it can not deliver the jpg brilliance the Olympus does. Not even close. Remarkable.

Robert, I've seen your Nikon pics but I am not sure I've seen others taken with a different system by you. Your Nikon shots that you've posted before are very good.

Nice shots stingx lovely lady & cars.
My last camera was a Pentax ME just dragged it out of cupboard for the first time in years, photo below. Remember those ancient things that had film onboard? :rollover
I only use the camera in my phone these days its handy & always in my pocket, but ordinary quality, I might have to get something decent.

Spudman's models:
"Give that girl a sandwich...!"

They do look thin, thin... unless Spud 'shopped them like the fashion mags do!

I shot Pentax SLRs (my dad's) for most of the 80s and into the 90s. I still have an use a Spotmatic for B&W street shooting. Great camera TGV!

Lovely ladies, Spud. I like #3 a lot.

The thing that drew me into the M43 stuff is the sheer amount of great, quality lenses. Although the Sony NEX systems have a bigger sensor, the glass leaves one wanting. Also, because of the sensor size, the glass is as big as on DSLRs and, to me, it's just not comfty and doesn't make sense to have a tiny body and have to swing huge glass.

Anyway, there are great deals on Amazon for the Pany GX1 and a few of the PL models by Olympus because new kits are being announced next week. If you'd like to take better pictures, not carry heavy equipment, and really don't want to break the bank then look at the sub-$400 deals on the aforementioned. Great stuff.

Lovely ladies, Spud. I like #3 a lot.

I went backstage in the middle of the show and #3 was looking really fine. She was wearing tights and a feather mask. Very mysterious and lumpy in all the right spots.

All my small point and shoot cameras are Pentax. They work really well for all the abuse they get hiking, climbing, motorcycling and so on.

I like Pentax. If the price drops a little bit more by Black Friday I want to grab a Pentax K-5. It's one of the best weather-sealed, cold-proof cameras out there. I need something rugged for winter/snow shooting. My Canons fog and freeze in extreme temps.
