Tried a cool little experiment with the BDRI.
Love the amp, but it's freakin loud, and that's when it sounds best.
I swapped the 6L6s for a pair of JJ 6V6s, rebiased and fired it up.
Left the stock speaker alone, since it sorta grew on me.
The result is dynamic crunchy goodness on the overdrive channel.
Very touch-responsive. And for extra punch, a simple TS type pedal is perfect.
Check out these ridiculous rock tones (https://www.box.com/s/9u3k3i3pv34rg3hdvg5t).
The first :30 is just guitar (Strat) to amph. Bumped it with an old TS-9 around :35
NOTE: the sound file is not a proper recording, but it'll give you a pretty good idea on the rock tones available.
Master volume on the amp was set pretty low, around 2.
Those 6V6s really brought the overdrive alive.
