Sadly, a couple of weeks ago, Claude Nobs, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival passed away, following a minor fall while cross-country skying.

Not sure if the news made it to the U.S. news world.

He was a key figure in Jazz and Rock music in Europe, and counted many friends among musicians, from Quincy Jones to Keith Richards, to folks like Ehmet E. from Atlantic Records.

I, like many others, owe a little bit of my musical interest (and even living now in the U.S. for me) to him, as he build the facility that brought folks like T Bone Walker, Willie Dixon, and Muddy Waters near me... and I am very grateful.

I was just near there for a couple of weeks, visiting family and was scanning the news to see when (not if) a musical tribute is to take place. If I hear details I may post again.I expect it to be of note if the likes of Keith Richards, a small group of top Jazz musicians, and the festival organization itself put it together...
