I've finally gotten around to fixing my Crate VC50212. Looks like the optos are bad but I want to replace the jacks while I have the board out. I've never purchased these before, what are the reliable vendors for something like this? A quick google search (and a quick search of the the fret) didn't seem to have much.

I already got my optos from Newark/Element14.

Is any bulging of the capacitors the sign of a failing cap?

Always has been in my experience Glacies. At least I know that goes for paper or oil and electrolyitics.

Thanks again for this rec, I got some high quality jacks from these guys. Not as pretty on the front panel unfortunately, but my amp was such a PITA that I'm just happy everything is working now. This was my biggest repair job on an amp yet.

For the record, and anyone searching, I fixed weird volume spikes and hums by replacing ALL of the opto-isolators. There are 5 of them and you can get them from newark for about $4.

Yep! Replace it.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time for this, but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Looks like the dirty channel still has an issue. Volume is very low. Fortunately I don't use it and rely on pedals, so I think I'm going to leave well enough alone until I have a backup amp.
