View Full Version : Silent home recording using amps

So I'm wondering we have people here with experience recording their amp(s) without micing the amp? I'm talking about using devices that plug into your speaker output on the amp, and let you plug in to your audio interface. In other words, you are bypassing the speaker in your amp/cabinet, hence no issue with volume.

You can then use impulse responses for your DAW, as Pete Thorn mentions below.

Some I've seen mentioned are listed below. One thing to point out - not all of these devices provide silent recording, because with some you still need to plug in your speaker cab, or you'll destroy the output transformer and what not.

I'm curios to hear if you have any tips! I would like to use something like these, so I can use my real amps and not worry about the volume issue.
