That was really Schweet! However, it wasn't Blues.

Here's some Blues. It is a classic performance by a young Koko Taylor on vocals, Little Walter on the harp, and the Hound Dog on the guit-fiddle. There was no credit given for bass, but Willie Dixon frequently backed up Koko in those days. This is Chicago baby!!!

Another cool version of Train Kept A Rollin. Ths is the first one I ever heard and used to cover it in my bands. I didn't know that it went way back.

I always thought it sounded like Foghat's Honey Hush and would confuse the two whenever I started the song. (puts on dunce cap)

Didn't Ted Nugent cover Wang Dang Doodle?

From what I gather, this is the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfclTLGteLc)...but Led Zeppelin did the best version, although its kinda hard to find, its well worth it! Ive got 2 versions on MP3, Knebworths the best!

I think you are refering to "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" :D

From what I gather, this is the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfclTLGteLc)..

Actually "Train Kept a'Rollin'" goes further back than that. The "jump blues" orchestra leader Tiny Bradshaw cowrote it with a couple of other guys and was the first to record it, back in 1951. Then The Johnny Burnette Trio cut their famous rockabilly cover of it in 1956. The Jim Dale version appeared in a film in 1958 (BTW, its awesome to see that clip, thanks for posting it). Then the Yardbirds covered it with Jeff Beck on guitar in 1965, and then performed it in the "Blow Up" movie in '66. A Texas garage band, the The Scotty McKay Quintet covered the song in 1966 (I think) with an over-dubbed solo by none other than Jimmy Page (who was doing a lot of session work in those days).

When Led Zeppelin first got together , "Train Kept a'Rollin" was the very first song they ever jammed together on (so its fitting thats what they played when they were inducted into the Rock N'Roll Hall of Fame). Like most of you guys, the first version I ever heard of the song was Aersmith's version from '74 (which is still my favorite). I'm sure other bands have covered the song, but that's the history of the tune as best I know it.

Peter Green was FANTASTIC! I think of all the British blues guitar heroes of the 60s he came the closest to capturing the Chicago sound (especially that of Otis Rush). GREAT STUFF! Its the only version of FLeetwood MAc that I really like.

A while back in this thread there was a discussion of the song "Train Kept A'Rollin"...I've since heard yet another version, and this one might just be my favorite. Its on the Yardbirds' 2003 reunion disc "Birdland". The only original Yardbird members in the reunion are Jim McCarty and Chris Dreja, but Jeff Beck plays on one song. There's several other big-name guest guitarists playing on it, Slash, Brian May, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and others, and its great! Joe Satriani plays on "Train Kept A'Rollin" and whoa, is it SMOKIN'!!!
