anybody using the voip services (vonage, packet 8, etc,)

my cable/internet provider is offering a special to get their voip service packaged in with my current cable/isp services. we don't use our home phone much and this special would cut my phone bill by a little more than half.

just looking for opinions on quality, ease of use and such....

We do VOIP at home. It's working well for us. There are some drawbacks, but not too bad. Like if the power goes out, you may need to reboot the hardware for the phone to work. The sound quality is lower, sometimes really good but sometimes pretty bad (not so often though). It is dirt cheap to phone anywhere in the world! For me, it was definitely a good idea - saves lots of money.

I've had Vonage for about 6 months. Never had a problem with the service and saving about $40 a month. Like Robert said sometimes the reception isn't perfect, but never so bad you can't use it.

Another Vonage user here - good sevice and relatively cheap. My only complaint is interfacing my home alarm system with it - there's a few hoops to jump through.
