See, while some of you lot were copping licks from EVH and SRV and investing years of work in attaining real mastery of your instrument, I was into stuff like this.

Which kind of explains why I'm not a better guitarist than I am.

Yeah, I remember that. I never got into the Cramps, but went through a Suicidal Tendencies, Pixies, Jane's Addiction, X, etc. phase around 89-90 just before returning to the Seattle area and my introduction to grunge. That 89-90 ski season, I worked in one of the back kitchens at SV, and we would crank up one of the above to crank ourselves up to work.

Oh yeah, bringing back the memories...

You should have been a Prairie farm boy growing up in remote, rural Bugtussle Sasktachewan, like me, if you want to know what it's like diggin' bands like this in your teen years... :D

All the kids are into, erhmm "punk" now, but back in my day it was sh!t kicking country or 80's big hair metal if you wanted to fit in.

Yep. Hard to be a punk on the farm :p

I've loved the Cramps ever since first hearing them back in 1980 or so. I saw them in '89 or '90, what a freakin' incredible show. Crazy, primal rock'n'roll and over the top showmanship....And that chick Poison Ivy is HOT!!!

I was over at a friend's house this weekend and he played the original Hasil Adkins' version of "She Said" (which the Cramps covered)...great stuff. Over the years I have been surprised to learn that a couple of my favorite Cramps tunes were covers ...the Crusher is another one.

Their take on Muleskinner Blues is a thing of rare beauty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgxTZsMRBkQ

And yeah, Bikini Girls with Machine Guns is pretty much their Mein Kampf. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9aYGKsbjP0

Well, I've sampled all foreign kinds of delicacies
Intoxicated till I can't tell what the hell I can see
With all the violence and liquor within close reach
But all the bars, pills, and freeways lead me back to the beach and
Bikini girls with machine guns
Bikini girls with machine guns
This stuff'll kill you; it's loaded with fun
Bikini girls with machine guns

YEAH!

tomorrow will be glommy with a chance of morning frogs
but this just happened to me while i was sawin' logs
I seen a striptease torture and blackbirds flyin' backwards and a pagan rout in a hellhole in a bed full o' crackers
it was a wet nightmare....

Check out their album "Big Beat from Badsville"! Its really good.
