Been looking for a good mini amp. Anyone ever used the Johnson Barn Burner Mini Amp? Looks pretty cool with a real wood cabinet.

Pretty cool wacky ! I like the finished wood, very I don't know what but I like it. For $40 you could put one in every room of the house !

For $48.90 shipped, I thought "What the Hell!" The website link is above the picture. The store is Luthier Music, Corp. in NYC.

OK. I think I can do a small review of this little amp now. Out of the box on 9 volts she's not really much. Kind of anemic and tinny. She can take from 9 to 15 VDC (the IC inside is maxed out powerwise at 14.8 volts), so I bought a 15 volt power supply for her online. A little better, but still tinny. So, I went hunting for a better speaker, and found a pair of 40+ year old 4" Utah alnico speakers on eBay for cheap, so I bought them. Put one in and that did it. A lot mellower tone now with more volume than with the cheap speaker that came in it. I like the clean and tube modes best. The overdrive and gain modes are just too distorted for such a small amp and speaker. The built-in tuner is a plus.
