Wasn't sure if a gig report should go here or in open mic, but since there's guitars in the pics, I opted for here. ;) (Robert, feel free to move if you want.)

Crash Pad played it's first show in over 6 months, debuting our new rhythm section last night. Given that it was our drummer's first show with us and the bassist's first real band show ever, it went pretty well. The drummer cut one song a verse short, but we all caught it and covered. Played a new song by the other guitarist that went pretty well (albeit with a slightly sloppy ending) too.

Will bump with tons o' pix, o' course.

Your comments on my poseritude are, as always, encouraged.

Just to stay on topic, Mitch played his American Strat, Ronnie his MIM Fender Precision Bass.

I started out with my Hamer Special (seen below) but the signal was cutting out intermittantly for some reason so I switched to my Fernandes Ravelle after the first song or so.

Seriously cool photos as always BK! We have to do a better job of documenting our shows (getting old, memories getting shorter - LOL!)

Haha, that's honestly why I do it. I figure at 49, I could keel over, or at least not be able to play in bands, at any time. Plus all the shows start to run together, I like to have some photgraphic evidence of what was happening.

They're still in high school. 17, I believe. It's worked out great, I must say. Total happenstance though. When I first contacted the guitarist, I had no idea how young he was. When I found out he was still in high school, I was surprised that he'd want to be in Crash Pad, and that his parents would let him! The bassist was already a friend of his; when our prior bassist got bogged down at work and then recalled for duty with the Navy, it was perfectly natural for Ronnie to step in.

I have an actual almost paternal pride in those kids! They're doing a great job. Mitch is now contributing songs, and Ronnie is writing nice basslines that have a good "walking" Matt Freeman (Rancid) type vibe. It's funny that I have a daughter only a couple years younger than them, and am as old as their dads!
