Marco is a very highly regarded Italian session player. He has recorded Elements Of Persuasion with James Labrie (Dream Theater) and toured behind that as well.

Much of his material is rooted in fusionesque metal style. A very capable player indeed. Worth a listen.

He also has his own sintaure line of Rash guitars.

Wow! It's great that you mention Marco Sfogli.
I am a huge Dreamtheaterfan and I have seen DT about 30 times live.

I totally like Elements of Persuasion and I saw La Brie's project with Marco Sfogli live in a club in Düsselsorf about two years ago.

This guy has a unique feeling and I even find his playing more emotionful that Petrucci's playing!

Good stuff there! I particularly enjoyed the Larry Carlton like backing track.

Thanks, Spud! I subscribed to his You Tube stuff. This guy has awesome technique. I am a huge DT fan, so I can't help but hear a lot of Petrucci in his playing. :dude:

JAMES LABRIE: Good news for metal fans, bad news for prog fans! According to guitarist Marco Sfogli the upcoming James LaBrie solo album will be "heavier, less progressive and more hooks".

"The main difference between Elements Of Persuasion and the new LaBrie record is that I only wrote the solos on the last one. Everything else was more or less pre-written for Elements Of Persuasion, including the guitar riffs. Now I have more freedom when it comes to the actual songs. I've written a lot of songs together with Matt Guillory (keyboards). I give him input with the guitars and he's a master at arranging the songs. The new record will feature me as a writer as well."

"I think it will be heavier, less progressive, and have more hooks," Sfogli continues. "The new songs aren't as technical as the ones on Elements Of Persuaision. That album was a very good experiment, like a transition point between the Mullmuzzler records and this new, more modern path. Now I think we, and especially Matt, have gotten to the point where we can write beautiful metal songs in the best sense of the word."
