Mr. Furtado played with his band here tonight for a benefit for a local family ski hill outside of Hailey.

Click on Running Down a Dream, for his cover of this Petty song. He is an amazing picker, and actually made me like banjo for the night. He plays a couple of different acoustic guitars, a banjo, and some pretty mean slide on a USA sunburst Strat. Very cool.

Here is some cool acoustic slide.

Opening for Tony Furtado, and playing with him later was Johnny Neel, keyboardist who has played with the Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, and the Marshal Tucker band among others.

http://www.johnnyneel.com/ some good sounds come up here.

He is blind, and is pretty amazing.

I worked with Furtado a couple of times when I was the sound engineer at a famous night club.

He is a superb musician and very nice guy to hang around with. At the time I met him he had in his band a bass player that had worked with John McLaughlin, and to this day I've only heard possibly two other bass solos that could stand up to what he did on the first night that I met that band. One of those competing solos was performed on that same evening at a music hall next door by Victor Wooten who was playing with Bela Fleck. The other was Dave LaRue with the David Brecker Tribune.

Glad you got to see him Steve.

I did notice his bass player. I don't know who this guy has played with, but he was darn good. Even though I don't play slide yet, I almost bought one of Tony's home made glass slides (out of wine bottle necks it looked like) he was selling on his CD table just because.

Aeolian: Have you seen Tony? On his sight, he says he now lives in Portland, and while working on a new CD, has played some clubs there.
