Artist/Band you'd most like to see live...

Which artist/band would you most like to see live but have not had the chance because they don't tour, or don't tour anywhere near your location? Remember, we don't have access to a Wayback Machine, so this question is about existing artists/bands, not ones we didn't get to see because of our ages. For me the answer is, without question, Tom Waits.

Well, in this neck of the woods, it could include almost anyone. Only the hugest tours come up here, or guys playing the casino circuit. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to see Joe Bonamassa next month. I'd like to see some of the older blues players while they are still with us, viz, B.B. King, Hubert Sumlin, etc. The more metallic side of me is REALLY hoping that next year's Iron Maiden tour comes up this way.

I was thinking alive, otherwise there would be a large number of Jimi responses I think. Truth be told, if we were talking dead artists, and could only pick one, I think I'd probably pick Django because at least I have a wide array of live Jimi on DVD to watch, but very little video of Django exists, and most of it is not the greatest quality.

Great call on Praxis. I'd love for them to come to Tampa, FL but nobody I really want to see ever does. We usually have to make a six-hour trek to Atlanta to see a lot of bands as very few play in Florida. Not to mention many of the venues in Tampa are horrible as far as sound goes. They finally got around to building an amphitheatre here, but due to the proximity to residential communities, they had to install a sound-dampening wall at the top of one side of the amphitheatre and now it just creates a very noticeable echo which pretty much eats up bass tone.

Well, I'll go ahead and say Neil Young, esp. a set with his D-45. He is coming to Boise a day before my B-day, but it is sold out and scalper tickets are $250-400 each based on a quick google search.

I'd also love to see the Bremerton band, MxPx live. They have a lot of great energy and it would be really fun.

I think Knopfler would be up there too if I am thinking guitar hero.

+1 for you Tot. If you ever get a chance to see Marc play somewhere, take my advice and get there as early as you can and find yourself a spot as close to Marc as you can get. His intensity when he plays is something best experienced from close range. When I saw him at Tonic in NYC, I literally stood no more than five feet away from him for the duration of the show. The man twists and contorts himself as if he is trying to get inside his guitar, and the grunting noiss he makes when he really gets into his playing is something you have to be right there to hear. Wherever you are if you get to see him, you will see a phenomenal musician who puts everything he has into each piece he plays. Good luck getting a chance to see him, it's well worth it.

1) school,
2) my parents won't let me go anywhere out of the city.

I was lucky enough to see The Who back in 1991, the same year I saw The Stones. That was a good year for live music for me!
