I really enjoy listening to good country pickers. Here's a vid I stumbled across on youtube. Brad Paisley playing "Time Warp," and he smokes on this track.

Here's a piece of "Throttleneck" off his newest album.

Awesome tones here, IMO.

Here's Brent Mason (most recorded Nashville session guitarist) and Vince Gill tearin' it up.

Here's one with Albert Lee, Vince Gill and Danny Gatton ("The Master of the Telecaster") burning up their respective fretboards.

It's music like this that makes me want to burn my guitar and take up autoharp, or the xylophone, or something.

Enjoy!

There's a L-O-N-G feature article in this month's Guitar Player about Paisley, who turns out to be a total gear freak. He's got some gorgeous stuff, in particular some custom made Dr. Z amps that are to die for, including one model called a "Z-Wreck" that was a collaboration between Mike Zaite (Dr. Z himself) and the legendary Ken Fischer of Trainwreck amp fame. He also has a '62 Vox AC-30, a Fender Vibro-King, an 80W Victoria Tweed Twin, and an original Trainwreck Liverpool 30 that must be worth a fortune. In addition to a couple of Fender Tele's, he has a bunch of them that are custom made by a luthier named Bill Crook. It's nice to hear him making the best of all that primo gear!!

I'm glad you brought up Albert Lee, what a monster country player.

My favorite Albert Lee tune:

Unfortunately, he doesn't use the digital delay in this version.

That's kind of like having three country Steve Vais in one band, innit? :AOK:

Great stuff, thanks for posting.

Gotta love Albert.
Did you know that the bass player in these videos is Sterling Ball...the owner of Ernie Ball/Musicman? How cool.:dude:

If I was ever told that I would have a shot at playing on stage with Vince Gill or Albert Lee, I think I'd have to puke out of sheer terror. I'd be too busy standing there, with my mouth agape, wondering what the hell I would do when I came to be my turn to solo. The funny thing is, I'm a rocker at heart. I was raised on country, though, and good pickin' is just that, regardles of genre!

DVM, that Brad Paisley article is awesome! That's what got me started at looking at the country pickers. Paisley's tones are incredible, too, IMHO.

This is super cool. Notice Phil Lynott sitting on the end of the couch.

I only dream of being able to slay country babes with countryish licks (hey that sounded kinda good...) like the gentlemen above. I always thought country players were the best just cause their licks were so different.

This guy smokes. Have a fire extinguisher handy because your monitor may catch fire when you watch this.

Great players, all of them.

I am very impressed with Brad Paisley's playing and tone.
I've always liked Albert Lee also.

I'd love to play even a few of their licks.

Albert Lee is fantastic. Not only his country picking work is great, but he is also a very good Rockabilly guitarist.

Never heard of Scotty Anderson, but he smokes like the rest. Great players all. The only thing that keeps me from listening to Brad Paisley more often is that although he has a good voice, those *really* cheesy lyrics get to me after a while.

Do he have an instrumental album, or perhaps one with good country cheddar in place of Velveeta?
